A new project has started

or maybe an existing project is progressing? the electronics bits have been started a few weeks ago (and have been mostly working for some time)

È iniziato un nuovo progetto

o forse ho fatto progressi su un progetto esistente? la parte elettronica è stata iniziata qualche settimana fa (e sta bene o male funzionando da un po')

Periodic reminder that #sewing a 18th century style shirt completely by hand:

* doesn't require any expensive equipment;
* doesn't require any particular space;
* can be done with cheap materials;
* is easy enough that a (18th century) child can do it;
* probably takes less time than you think.

Is there a pattern or instructions you like?

Also what if I am a terrible hand sewer? :-)

in reply to Jonobie

@Jonobie I've followed Bernadette Banner's pirate shirt video (or rather, the notes I took from her video, pausing and resuming and fast forwarding as needed while cursing video as a tutorial format :D ), except for the fact that I added two small triangular gussets at the neck taken from some blog post (I don't remember where).

And if you are a terrible hand sewer, you are definitely not going to finish it in one day :D and you're pretty likely to be a less terrible sewer when the shirt is done :D

Cool, off to find that video. Also a laugh at your video tutorial comment because that’s so much me too.
in reply to Jonobie

@Jonobie and I wasn't sure about actually publishing them, but the way I kept those notes was as a potential article for my old site, and, well

eoval.org/77M6LfPY#
eoval.org/yaJzMQyJ#cutting_lay…

these two links will self-destruct in a week, and I haven't re-read that text, so they may be missing bits (and they *are* full of typos), but maybe together with the videos they can be useful

Oh this is amazing lovely gift to share, thank you. I’ll look more closely once I’m at my computer desk. ❤️

@Jonobie I've found some of those notes, the neck gusset idea came from another video: youtube.com/watch?v=2SNdQYg4Xa…

(and the link to the video I mentioned before is youtube.com/watch?v=Ql9r8UKIvZ… )

yesterday evening we had one of those wild nights where you have to turn on the air purifier afterwards

i.e., we had friends over, and one of them mentioned that he would have enjoyed learning how to solder, and suddenly on a low table (yeah, not ideal) there was a soldering iron, with all the accessories, perfboard, a box of resistors (and some LEDs that didn't get used)
