the cartridge pleated skirt is almost done, only requires a patch on a small tear I couldn't cut around, but I need some sewing thread in a different colour from what I already have.
the bodice is done, I've worn it today, it's good (other than a small change I want to make to the pattern for the next time).
When I'll have some time with no rain at a time when I can take pictures I will, and then there will be a blog post.
So, now, I suddenly found myself with no #handsewing project in progress¹, and that can't do!

This time it's the same purplish-blue cotton popeline I've used for my vaccine jab shirt (which uses the historically accurate vampire shirt pattern), and I've cut the 1880s pattern, but with wide and longish rectangular sleeves instead of the tapered ones of that pattern.
I wanted to have honeycombing on the front, but I've done a sample and it has taken significantly more fabric than I expected (the instruction said it would take twice the fabric, but it's more like three times), so now I'm wondering what do to. I could go for gathers instead.
I can start preparing the collar and cuffs, anyway, and possibly some other seam.

Questa è nel popeline di cotone che ho usato per la mia camicia da vaccinazioni (fatta col modello della camicia da vampiro storicamente accurata) e ho tagliato il modello del 1880, ma con le maniche rettangolari larghe e abbastanza lunghe anziché quelle a trapezio che dovrebbe avere.
Volevo fare dello smocking sul davanti, ma ho fatto un campione e ha preso decisamente più stoffa di quanto mi aspettassi (le istruzioni dicevano il doppio, ma è almeno il triplo), per cui ho dei dubbi su cosa fare. Magari potrei arricciare.
Intanto comunque posso preparare colletto e polsini, e magari fare qualche altra cucitura.

In the last few days I assembled the yoke and collar, so that this morning I could measure and mark the honeycombing dots, this afternoon I did the first row, and the amount of fabric reduction is just fine.
I did make an off-by-one error when marking, and the honeycombing is not symmetrical. aaaaaargh. but I'm not *too* bothered by it, so it will remain as is.

Nei giorni scorsi ho cucito lo sprone e il colletto, così stamattina ho potuto misurare e segnare i riferimenti per lo smocking, oggi pomeriggio ho iniziato la prima riga, e la quantità di stoffa che viene raccolta è giusta giusta.
Ho fatto un errore di uno segnando i riferimenti, per cui lo smocking non è simmetrico. aaaaaargh. ma non mi da *troppo* fastidio, per cui rimarrà così.

Devo fare ancora un paio di righe di smocking, e poi posso prosegure cucendo assieme il davanti e il dietro (sui fianchi, e solo un pezzettino sul bordo del davanti) e inizerà ad assomigliare ad una camicia.

in reply to Elena ``of Valhalla'' • •All of the edges of one sleeve (and those of the body of the shirt) have been neatly finished and they are in theory ready for me to mark the honeycombing pattern on.
I think I'd prefer to finish the edges of the other sleeve first, however, so that I can mark the pattern on both one after the other, so that I remember what I've done and do them in a properly symmetrical way.
Then honeycombing the sleeves, and then final assembly!

Credo di voler prima rifinire i margini dell'altra manica, però, in modo da poter segnare i punti su entrambe una dopo l'altra, in modo da ricordarmi cosa ho fatto e segnarli in modo opportunamente simmetrico.
E poi smocking sulle maniche, e poi assemblaggio finale!
