Ieri sera ho provato ad andare a fare un aperitivo.

Locale abbastanza pieno, al tavolo un biglietto con il qr code per il menu. La cosa già mi urta, ma per fortuna il mio cellulare era carico (cosa strana, specie per quell'ora di domenica).
Il qrcode contiene un link di una pagina che contiene un bottone "clicca qui per vedere il menu". Perchè? Perchè mi devi dare un link a una pagina con un link? Perchè?
Gli attributi cominciano a roteare, ma ancora a basso regime.

Quello che ha iniziato il decollo vero è proprio è stato quello che ho trovato sulla pagina del menu:

Cioè, per vedere il menu devo darti il mio numero di cellulare? Per vedere il menu? Quella cosa che mi permette di decidere come darti i miei soldi in cambio di cibo sovraprezzati? Ma scherziamo?

E l'interfaccia! non c'è modo di evitarlo e l'unico "checkbox" attivo è quello bello grande e verde che dice "accetto tutti i trattamenti, e anche di procurare io la vaselina" (per i suddetti trattamenti). Cliccare quel checkbox seleziona tutti i precedenti che diventano "impercettibilmente" attivi e quindi è possibile deselezionare quelli che non ci garbano. tranne l'ultimo, ovviamente. Consento a darti il mio numero di cellulare perchè sia "trattato" (non ho letto i dettagli, il rosso mi cominciava a rendere più difficile leggere) e per generica "privacy".

Al che chiamo la ragazza (con cui mi scuso se sono stato un po' rude, lo so che non è colpa sua e che lavora solo li) a cui chiedo un menu di carta. Mi risponde che il menu è sull'internet. Le spiego che non ho intenzione di lasciare numeri personali per leggere un menu, ma se non ho alternativa, può darmi il suo. Stranamente rifiuta, e conferma che non sono disponibili menu' cartacei.

Qui ci siamo alzati e siamo andati a mangiare da un'altra parte.

Avrei voluto chiamare il proprietario e chiedergli il suo di numero di telefono prima di uscire, ma vabè.

(this finished a meal that had started with some popcorn, in front of a movie, and progressed with bean (and tomato) spreads on freshly baked bread. it's all vegetables so it's healthy, right?)

Trying to do this all from first principles, so:

* A freedom-respecting computer should never prevent a user from running software they want to run

But also:

* A safety-respecting computer should never allow someone other than the user to run software that acts against the user

There's no inherent conflict here - the user should be allowed to run whatever they want, someone who isn't the user shouldn't. But how do we tell the difference?

Do I need a linen hood? Do I need a slightly post-apocalyptic hood? Do I have a post-apocalyptic costume to wear it with?

Have I been influenced again by influencers I follow on youtube? Maybe.

Have I cut the fabric for *two* hoods this morning, and handsewn half of the first? Maaaaaaaybe.

I'm trying to use the debian images from cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/ to setup a new virtual machine with libvirt, but it's not working and I don't understand what's wrong.

I have downloaded debian-12-genericcloud-amd64.qcow2 and then I try to run:

virt-install --name testvm --import --os-variant debian12 --disk debian-12-genericcloud-amd64.qcow2 --network network=glcomobr --cloud-init

(where the glcomobr is a network that I have defined locally and is currently up)

I get something like

the system boots, I see some messages from cloud-init starting with

and I've finished the #AugustaStays! Except for the fact that I had misplaced 3 out of the 4 laces I had luceted, and could not try it.

This morning I've found two of the laces, and there is still a bit of string in the place of the last lace that has been misplaced, so I will probably be able to try it on?

I won't be able to take pictures for a while, it's still quite a busy time.

TIL that the TRIXIG set of precision screwdriver set (ikea.com/it/it/p/trixig-set-ca… ) uses standard 4 mm bits, and it even has a mostly different selection than the minnow set from iFixit ( eustore.ifixit.com/products/mi… ) I already had.

Did we need another precision screwdriver set? Are we going to use any of those bits except for the usual Philips and a couple of Torx?
