Me, after doing the calculations for a petticoat I'm not planning to make any time soon, just to soothe my whirring brain, coming to the conclusion it would only take 3,6 metres of fabric with these numbers: Hmm, I suppose I could add more ruffle

My voice of reason: NO, absolutely not! You're going to have to gather all of that and then iron it several times a year, you LOON

@valhalla The Husqvarna Viking ruffler foot looks like this! It's a bizarre looking little thing, but apparently it works, if you're prepared to discard some ruffle because you need extra to have enough etc.

We'll see how the rolled hem foot goes! I've been happily ironing a hem turn into countless metres of fabric for a decade, but I would be willing to not. 😂

@valhalla I don't know but I have the feeling a *pleating* foot should be called a pleating foot. 😂 The one available for my machine does gathering, not pleats. Pleating I tend to do with threads, so I can measure every single pleat so I can fit a specific amount of fabric onto a very specific size waistband. Gathered ruffles have more spring so they're better for under-the-skirts petticoats and 18th century petticoats I do by hand anyway!
