@sinituulia @valhalla Hi! You seem to know stuff about handsewing, maybe you can give me advice, how seam for fabric in picture should be strengthened properly? It is a stright back seam of a store-brought linen chemise that I have already unpicked to redo. I wore it mostly under corset, and this pulled out part happened somwhere around my booty. I can afford to cut some half cm away, and I know how to do seamfinishing like in Bernadette's pirate shirt, but will it be enough?

Pockets are absolutely perfect for patches, especially if you can leave one and reuse one, so you're still left with a pocket if you want it... And you can just remake the missing pocket later if you feel like it and have a suitable fabric then.
You could put the patch across the seam, too, absolutely. It's just really difficult to re-sew a frayed seam if the seam allowance is all shot, and taking it in to reach intact fabric will make the thing smaller! If you can put it back together without using a patch, and then put a patch on top (or on the underside as it happens) then that should be as durable, just a bit more fiddly than working fully in the flat. 😄 A little square tipped onto its side to make a diamond in the centre back seam might look nicer, if you can make it look intentional...

Intentional butt diamond feels like a funny idea, but I don't mind my underwear to be funny. If my funny underwear repulses someone, they clearly were not deserving to look at it in the first place.

Intentional Butt Diamond is the name of my new electro-ska band.
