If your # doesn't plainly state if your event ( and speaker requirements ) is in person ( including city ), virtual or hybrid I'm probably not going to spend more than a minute trying to figure it out

Also, if the event is (partially) virtual/remote please please please just add the times already in UTC: it makes it so much easier for anybody as they only have to apply their own known offset rather than having to calculate the offset difference first / using a converter.

for the cfp I mostly want to know what time zone the conference considers home so that some jerk doesn't accidentally tell them that 06:00 on a Sun morning is OK for giving a presentation :)

For instance, SeaGL's home is Seattle, WA, USA, so I want to know it's in PT ( Pacific Time ) and UTC-7

No idea if other TZs also have a PT, hence also UTC

You're right, UTC is sufficient, but I like to know actual TZ as well for those places that do the daylight savings time dance
