It's much harder getting neat letters with the smaller pen size; for to practice with it a lot. (Lyrics are Rip Out The Wings if a Butterfly by HIM, just because it was playing) #calligraphy

Ecoline 441, mahogany I think it's called

I've got that one and a lovely dark green, as well as the black. They're very thin inks and flow super nice through the parallel nibs :D

oh those are just the Ecolines I have :D before picking up calligraphy I'd use inks to fill my mandalas so I've got bunches, mostly metallic and iridescent ones like the Daler Rowney pearlescent inks, but I also have some Diamines but I've been told they're not at all lightfast (which I wouldn't know as my stuff goes in a folder in a box under the bed when I finish it XD)

Thank you! ❤ I only picked up calligraphy a couple of months back, and that's because I was getting into doing the kinds of borders you find on illuminated manuscripts but couldn't do anything with them, so figured it was high time I learned calligraphy XD

daler-rowney.com/fw-pearlescen… I have this set of six, plus a few other single colours :D

That's what mandala drawing is like for me, requires intense focus and repetition of patterns, very meditative. And yeah calligraphy is the same now - at least blackletter which is the only one I do XD I find myself getting lost in it and accidentally repeating strokes because it's so rhythmic.

shiny!

tiptoes to an art supply website to see if they have it to add them to the infinite ink whishlist :D

actually, I think that print with a small-ish stub looks pretty neat.

Last two springs I've left a piece of paper with ink samples on a south-east facing window (in the north hemisphere) for 3 months; I only had two shimmering Diamine inks, and they both suffered (the red way more than the black), but other inks fared significantly worse.

Oh interesting! What were the others? I was talking about inks with the friend who works at the art store I order from, and they said they left something with diamine ink in the one one afternoon and the next day it was drastically faded. Maybe mileage varies with different colours!
in reply to Cont Bratula

These are all the inks I tried, after a couple of months (I couldn't find the pictures at 3 months, but I remember they weren't that different)
in reply to Cont Bratula

And indeed if you care about light resistance and/or consider doing so fun :D I'd recommend testing the inks you have yourselves, because different colours / dyes / pigments even from the same manufacturer will have different behaviours.
