Between the Pakistan outage, the Bangladeshi disconnection from the internet for a straight week during protests, and the French fiber-optic sabotage, I'm wondering what kind of preparedness one might do ahead of a national outage.

my dorm in Germany back in 2006 had a filesharing system meant for use in internal networks, called DC++ iirc. It was a godsend because we had a relatively low monthly download cap to the Internet, but internal traffic was free. One guy was contributing like 20TB of content or something. Absolute hero.

already downloaded and saved on the local network and on an external hd, of course :D

in theory around the house there should be a SBC that is ready to set up a wifi access point and serve those (as well as some debian installer iso), but I haven't used it since before the pandemic, so it probably isn't working.
