Yeah Rust is popular right now, but from the logic presented in the article, Java could also "replace" python.
This hasn't been the case as the lightness of Python meant space for both.
So I think it's more likely that the same scenario will play out with Rust.
If anything Rust will compete with C and Java rather than Python.
