Good morning Knitterati! Has anyone ever tried winding yarn with a "nostepinne?" Looks like a must-have tool, especially for non-stretch yarns like the one in the demo here. Cheap and effective!

in reply to Karen Strickholm • • •I have two that my husband turned for me on his medieval treadle lathe. I use them in the context of Viking reenactment-type activities, but I don't use them at home because I've never gotten really efficient with them.
This probably relates to the fact that when I use them for Viking stuff I'm usually working with the equivalent of laceweight yarns at the largest. I bet they're a lot easier to use, and make a nicer bobble, when you have DK, sport, or worsted yarn to wind.
