A joke from Moscow:

"According to Putin the special military operation is really a conflict between Russia and NATO about World dominance."
"What's the situation now?"
"Russia has lost 15000 troops, 6 generals, 500 tanks, 3 ships, 100 planes and 1000 trucks."
"And NATO?"
"NATO hasn't arrived yet."

Of course, the joke is not likely to be from Moscow at all. Putin's official view is that the war is just about safeguarding the human rights of Russians in the east of Ukraine and 15000 is NATO's latest reported number of killed Russian soldiers (40000 "casualties", which includes the injured and captured).

The official Russian figure should be much lower, and two old men on a park bench, as we might visualize the joke to be portraying, would go by the Russian numbers.

Maybe the joke is a week old, as the latest number of dead generals according to NATO, including the one that was reported as run over by the tank of his own troops, on purpose, is 7.

The number of dead generals according to Russia is 2.

re: ukraine joke dissected

The joke does sound very Russian though. I spent a lot of time in Moscow back in the early 00's and when hearing people telling jokes (especially ones from the Soviet era) they have exactly this of cynic attitude to the actions of the leaders.

That said, people that I knew over there included Ukrainians, and I could never know where they were from.
