Every timeframe except 1-2 years is included, but I'll comment anyway.

Fedi was 5 months young then, but wouldn't be called Fedi for another 4 years or so.

Yea, I got tired of scrolling back, and letting it load. :ac_mischief:

I searched the internet archive for "identi.ca/<username>" The formatting is all messed up, but you can see a glimpse of the old page. (Mine is from Dec 2008)
in reply to murph

Ahh... And I changed my username... So, 2008 for myself also. A Couple of familiar names in there. @dsyates ...
@rfquerin ..
and more...

Well, most of the people that were around 15 years ago, still are around, in various forms, aren't they? TLLTS still happening?

Perhaps a lot of them are more involved with things in real time, and space?

Social networks can be a real time sink. - But they can also be a person's window to the world of other humans. When I was on the road, you (and others) were consistent people to interact with. There is a lot of VALUE to that.

Yep we're around. The cockroaches of the internet. We generally don't stream because binrev is gone now I think. I know @murph listens in Mumble.

Unfortunate we lost 5150 a few years ago...and Rich Hughes rarely comes on...same with Linc and Allan....Linc because of the time difference and Allan because of his family (2 boys and a wife)
in reply to gorkon

Of course, this laptop is from 2007, so does not make a case for timeliness.

Yea, I still get automated things from Lord D on twitter. - Freaked me out a bit. - It's been 6 years or so, now. πŸ˜”

Not sure if you both noticed, but I changed my avatar there recently to the current one. :flan_wink: I was also reminded of how I hated the change to Identica. :flan_cleaver: @Reno

Question for you. You showed a pic from the pump.io era of identi.ca, but it looks like a message from earlier then the transition. Did your old messages carry over? Also, is there a way to go to one's oldest messages?
in reply to ClaudioM

Yeah, the pump.io change really squashed the community, even though the protocol was better. (and the progenitor to Activitypub)
in reply to murph

I dunno if things are better, but it's slow as shit. But G+ got a lot of use, and it seemed that most of us used it until Google got stupid.
in reply to murph

@murph :fedora: :amiga: @Randy Noseworthy 😼 :debian: @Reno @ClaudioM Yeah the messages were migrated over but sadly not the URLs. You need to scroll a lot to find the contemporary rendering of your first dent, even if you found it in the Wayback Machine.
in reply to gorkon

Yea, I think I heard about 5150...
- As for the streaming, it seems there ought to be a solution for that....
And yea, things change, the morph. I know Linc is out west, and it's understandable with Allan. - Putting together a polished show isn't easy. Even a consistent haphazard show isn't easy to do. Because you have to be consistent. LOL

You guys are always diamonds in the rough.
in reply to gorkon

Gorkon, y'all don't stream anymore? I got a icecast server with 1 gig download speed of y'all want to stream again. I hope to retire sometime next year, and if you cockroaches are still around, I can be available on Wednesday nights after I retire.

I first joined Indenti.ca in like 2010. I tried using it, and a number of other Pump.io & StatusNet instances on and off for a while, but I don't think I ever really "got it" and freedom denying proprietary corporate social media, particularly Facebook, continued to be my primary online location, up until I gave it up for #lent this year and decided I was going to dive full into #GnuSocial. I finally understood how federation actually worked so here i am in #OrdinaryTime #worksLikeEmail
in reply to Reno

2010 for me. Ah the good old days. I didn't join laconi.ca/identi.ca because I bloody hate Twitter -- and anything that remotely smells like it. But we federated with identi.ca and Twitter. We even federated with Facebook, at least until they found out.
in reply to Reno

Good lord. I originally joined a mastodon instance around the Twitter exodus in March 2017, so I've been here more than 5 years. Makes me feel old as shit.
