@Greg i didn't even know these existed until recently when a friend put his on to roll a joint and i've been thinking about them ever since

i can't believe not one of you has gone for the flip option
in reply to brennen

I used to have them.. The trouble I found is that they clip onto the lenses, if the flip-ups are the ones I'm thinking of. They could mar the lenses. Transition lenses is what I have now, as in the ones that turn dark by themselves.
in reply to brennen

@brennen I mean, a monocle wouldn't solve your old man glasses, but how cool would it be?
in reply to Elena ``of Valhalla''

@valhalla i have this feeling that it's hard to escape the cosplay-vibes event horizon while wearing one but i guess that's not entirely disqualifying
in reply to brennen

Color me old and slow, but what are "old man glasses problems"?
in reply to Lars Wirzenius

@liw the glasses for seeing things in the distance are now too strong to look at things up close, so i take the glasses off to look at stuff and then forget where they are when i have to put them on to look at stuff, so then i got multi-focal lenses but it turns out nothing i want to look at with the glasses is ever quite at the right angle anyway so i'm constantly peering over the top or tilting my head funny.
in reply to brennen

@liw all of this adds up to "oh, this is the origin of all those scenes in a movie where an actor lets you know that a character is old by fiddling with glasses in an exaggerated way", except it turns out it's not really exaggerated, i just look like that now.
in reply to brennen

I understand now. I've been doing that for so I don't often mislay my glasses, I guess.
in reply to Lars Wirzenius

@liw all of the available evidence suggests that many people have better working memory for the location of objects than i do.
in reply to brennen

I mostly only keep my glasses on my head or on my desk, and only on a couple of specific places on the desk. This helps me trick people into thinking I remember where I put them.
