A mate of my dad's actually built a monowheel. I didn't get a chance to ride it, but damn, it was impressive.

Dig out some modelling software and 3D print one? It may not work out any cheaper if you have to iterate through a lot of prints, but it's all about the journey rather than the destination, right?
