Ok, so we've only had the new system since Thursday, but today is the first day we’ve filled the battery entirely with free electrons from the sky, AND are now exporting excess free electrons to the grid (for the princely sum of 2¢/kWh).

@ash I will remain smug until winter when the solar generation will probably drop below our daily usage. ;-)
in reply to David de Groot

Welp. How big is your system? That's a massive battery, I'm impressed.
in reply to Ash K

@ash 13.2kW solar
10kW inverter
24kW battery (the original quote was for 16kW, but it was only $2k more for another 8)
in reply to David de Groot

Impressive. I'd be curious how much it dips in winter. Fingers crossed for ya.

@ash wow, that is some serious capacity! Just wondering: do you have a ginormous roof or high performance solar panels? We don’t come close to that with 10 panels (AEG 2023)
in reply to onnob

@onnob @ash both.

We have 30 x 440W LONGi Hi-MO X6 panels installed.

(they replaced the 7 x 180W Sharp panels we used to have)

in reply to David de Groot

@ash Wow, that is quite the setup. Would love to have something like that myself one day, but I definitely need new house to fit more panels.

today generated 27.3Kw, 99% self powered: 30% to battery, 15% house & 55% to grid. ☀️

@peterrenshaw night's not over yet, but we generated 36.56kWh, have so used 27.9kWh (total), used 9.39kWh of battery, and imported 6.08kWh ('cause yesterday was very wet and so we started with less battery this morning). Have sent 1.35kWh to the grid.

We had partial cloud today, so the generation numbers aren't as much as the day before yesterday, but it wasn't hot enough to turn on the A/C so didn't have that extra load either.

You can really notice when the clouds came over though: pvoutput.org/intraday.jsp?id=2…

wild amount of energy generated. Using 5KW cells here at 37.7 Lat. (Melb), plus battery at this time of year (less wind, clear skies, full ☀️) translates to excess sent to the grid. Love it.

@peterrenshaw also we have no town water or sewerage so we have a water pump and a sewerage treatment plant.
in reply to David de Groot

@David de Groot thanks for reminding me that I had to pay the advance payments for our new solar panels! :D
