I picked up this kit at Fiber Fair last fall - ten mini skeins in a black-red-yellow-grary gradient, and this delicious tonal blue-aqua.

Does the As You Wish MKAL start next week? Yes.

Am I just very impatient to have a shawl on the needles? Also yes.

Was I undecided about how I wanted to distribute the yarn options and realized I could squeeze in both versions if I just played a little bit of yarn chicken? Also also yes.

2/11 colors complete. Now that I've started working with the third color, I am almost 100% convinced that it was the version on the left that I saw at Fiber Fair that made me say "oooh yes let's make that." Which is making me want to take apart the right version to prioritize, but I don't love the pattern enough to redo that much work

Yarn distribution is going to be fairly wonky for boring math reasons on the left version, but since it exists to use up leftovers, well, them's the breaks.

5/11, a fair amount done on the rose of the ACD museum yesterday, so have a bonus Emmy reacting to a 16 cylinder plane engine that was made without consulting the plane mechanics who promptly went “what the heck this is too big”

Hey remember when I used to knit things? Apparently so did my hands after only a little bit of yelling at them.

7/11 done. I wound color 8 and found two partial breaks and a full break in the skein which I am going to be cross about for several days because I already have too many goddamn ends to weave on this thing.

8/11, and I can’t wait to be done with this thing.

Trying to find someplace to buy lace needles in Tokyo has not been going great. Found one store that had addis but nothing above a size five. Might be spending a silly amount on shipping to get some chonkier lace needles up in this joint

9/11 colors done. Last ball wound, it was also broken in two places. 🙄

Impulse to finish it today is high, except that I don’t have blocking mats or pins or wires right now, and that would involve going to two stores in opposing directions and if I’m being honest even the idea of pants seems onerous today. Also I would have to weave a whole mess of ends in. I’ll settle with getting one of them off the needles instead.
