Here’s my top tip for Christmas cooking.

Don’t do it. Just buy some baguettes, and have a lot of cold cuts.

Tell them it’s a ‘mediterranean christmas’, also, serve lots of sangria.

Then they’ll believe anything.

@sillyCoelophysis It really does make the holiday far more enjoyable.

Unless you’d like to be in the kitchen in order to avoid guests - then, by all means, cook something super elaborate.

@Madeleine Morris /me currently eating a slice of shapeless baguette-like bread

wait, that's pretty elaborate, you need to get your sourdough up to shape, then bake the baguette, and if you need to serve them to the public you probably also need to get the things you cook the baguettes in to give them their round shape and

wait

you meant *buy* some baguettes

not “buy some baguettes, some assembly needed” :D

(also, I've just removed from the oven the last bread batch for this evening, then I'll have two more batches that need to be cooked tomorrow, and then I'll be done, and somebody else is / will be doing the cooking and honestly I enjoy doing all the bread baking on the day before and in the morning, as long as I'm done by the time Christmas lunch begins)
