@Kermode it wasn't anything special, just checking the ratio of shellac to alcohol that is typically used as a wood finish, and converting it to sane units I have an intuitive feeling for.

Yeah, I get really confused trying to think through food recipes here. Canada is a mixed up place, mostly because our influential neighbour, the usa, insists on not going metric. Plus, they modified imperial measures, so for e.g. a US gallon isn't 4.55 litres, it's only 3.79, which also messed up the sub-units. IDK! :-)

OH. g is grams, not 9.8m/sˆ2...

still, units don't seem to match, volume times mass converted to mass?

@Marcos Dione volume (proper unit) divided by volume (ungodly unit) multiplied by mass (ungodly unit) , the result converted to mass (proper unit)
