@James afaik 100 miles is just about the bottom end of range for a current *city car*; in the past the range was a bit less, but I'd expect that with that amount of driving you would have used a bigger car (with a higher range), and for a long time those have been able to do both your commute and your trips to the in-laws with just overnight charging at home.
The trip to your parents I believe it's starting these days to get feasible (one way only) with overnight charging only on quite expensive cars, but other than those I'd guess you'd have to plan either one single stop for lunch-and-recharging the car, or multiple shorter stops, but sounds perfectly feasible either way.
We have arrived at tonight's accomodation in the riverside town of Macksville, who also happen to have a couple of #EV chargers, one of which we're making use of.
what do you do while waiting to charge all the time? I hate waiting 2hrs while my scooter is charging.. and that’s at home. 🤣 I don’t have fast charging by car standards though. I’d sit in a car park for 30mins eating Maccas for it if I could though. 🤣
@Caprica depends where the chargers are. Sometimes go for a walk, sometimes grab lunch (for the 30 min charge sessions). If it’s less than that, just sit in the car in the aircon. (This charge, is apparently going to take 10 mins, then we’ll be back on the road)

But. My in-laws lived 76 miles away. My parents lived 430 miles away. I was commuting more than 90 miles, round-trip, for most of my career.
Charging an EV wasn't practical. Now, retired, it looks a bit better.
