I wish companies that offer Two Factor Authentication would use normal auth codes so I can use 1Password. I'm looking at you Steam, Apple and my Bank. This is a solved problem, quit thinking your roll-your-own is better.
@Sir Ron Gilbert if it's in the EU, it may be because the normal auth codes aren't compliant with bank regulations that say that when you receive a TFA code you need to be told what the code is about, to prevent some types of fraud that were happening with the previously used methods
(which would excuse the bank, but not steam and apple, however, unless they are doing payment stuff)
@valhalla But are they really? The bullshit bank app lock in is so fucking annoying and bank dictating what I can use on my phone is even more idiotic. For example I can't use Anydesk on my phone to access my PC remotely because if I just have Anydesk installed, my banking app refuses to work. Want to use phone with different OS that's not even rooted, just unlocked bootloader? Won't work. It's ridiculous.
