48 hours after double jabs and I feel way better. Arms are still sore but I am definitely ready for a massive hike today, time to pack a lunch and hit the road

@murbs Managed around 8 miles in a bit of a wet walk around Faringdon. Some really amazing countryside and a weird old Folly (which was sadly closed and a bit too nestled in the trees to be photogenic). Felt LOADS better after that though

nice! Recognise the name of the place (must be from countless journeys along the A40) but have never been there. Just looked at some photos of the folly - looks lovely!

@murbs The Folly is pretty spectacular, and they do have open days in the summer. There's a really nice 8 mile circular walk around the area and Faringdon itself is quite small and neat, but has some good pubs and cafes so it's worth a visit if you're ever up this way again.

my dad’s in Milton Keynes, we’re in Gloucester. Sat nav often takes us around Oxford and up through Bicester. Maybe one day we’ll take a diversion!
in reply to Peejmaybe

@Peejmaybe thanks! here we are at the 24 hours stage, and right in the “I don't want to do anything” stage, and reading about your will to go on a hike helps :D
in reply to Elena ``of Valhalla''

@valhalla Awww hope you made a good recovery, that first 24 hours is really sucky but worth it in the long run if it means any nasty bugs thereafter are a lot less virulent.
in reply to Peejmaybe

@Peejmaybe definitely! last night the arms were only a little sore, but not enough to wake me up, and today the day went by just fine

and knowing about the vaccine appointment, our plans for the weekend involved such strenuous activities as “finish reading a book” (so, yeah, they are sucky, but otoh they are a nice excuse to take a couple days of rest, and I needed it, and 100% worth anyway)

in reply to Peejmaybe

Sounds like you're totally on the mend then! LOL.
I had a flu jab last week and was surprised that it felt sore for a bit longer than I expected.
Enjoy the hike.
in reply to Giselle

@Giselle Yep it was definitely the worst of the two (Flu jab). Hike was great though it rained most of the time (which meant my usual hiking trail was nicely deserted!)
in reply to Peejmaybe

@Peejmaybe @Giselle oh, here the worst of the two (at least wrt soreness in the arm) was definitely the covid one

which of course was on the side I prefer to fall asleep on. of course :D

in reply to Elena ``of Valhalla''

@valhalla @Giselle Oh that's what annoyed me the most, I'm a side sleeper and usually rotate like a rotisserie chicken in my sleep :) So whichever side I rolled onto it hurt like heck and woke me up instantly.
