hmmm... I quite like the skweee genre selection on Freemusicarchive.org ... "how to make new with old". http://freemusicarchive.org/genre/Skweee/

For info : the "skweee" genre is based on "skweezing" the most of "old" electronic music machines with limited capacities (the chiptune way), with a mix of dub, r&b, soul like rythm, and electronica/IDM break style ... pretty refreshing (while not so new - dating 2008-9...)

music is a primary art, and indeed when you think to have visited the whole place, there are still universes to explore...

I put together a quick mix for @studio d'essai to finish our series on #NetlabelDay 2016. Quite sloppy, but I'll blame it on the diversity of the genres, and on the fact that it was a rushed first take ;)

The artists are from 14 different places, there are 26 tracks, and some of the genres represented are: #electronica, #downtempo, #techno, #dub, #disco-house, #IDM and #experimental. You can legally steal all the tracks.

I hope you like it!

Mesh Gradients Test with Inkscape 0.92pre3 Pre-ReleaseInkscape needs your help!
https://inkscape.org/en/news/2016/11/14/mesh-gradients-test-inkscape-092pre3-pre-release/

Nov. 14, 2016, 10:09 p.m.

The 0.92pre3 source package and the corresponding Windows versions have been released. The pre-release version contains a preview of a potential last minute new feature, that might be included in Inkscape 0.92, mesh gradients. It is our hope that raising visibility of this awesome feature will help motivate its inclusion in the SVG 2.0 specification, which is approaching finalization.

Please try the feature out, and if you like it, please advocate for its adoption by web browsers and other SVG using applications.

Whether we actually include it in 0.92 depends on hearing plenty of positive feedback. We'll also be paying attention to reports of problems. (...)

We are pushing to release Inkscape 0.92 with the Gradient Mesh Tool enabled, but to do this we need people to test it, give us feedback, and report bugs. Below are links to download the 3rd prerelease of 0.92. Please help, as users do tend to run into more issues/bugs than developers.

As software permeates more and more aspects of society, the FSF must expand our work to protect and extend computer user freedom. We launched our annual fundraiser with the goal of welcoming 500 new members and raising $450,000 before December 31st. Please support the work at the root of the free software movement: make a donation or – better yet – join us and become a member today. Now is a great time to give, because the next $10,000 in donations will be generously matched by longtime dedicated FSF and GNU supporters Cristian and Andreea Francu. (...)

Happy Public Domain Day!

Seventy years after their respective deaths, the works of - Alfred Stieglitz, US-American photographer, see here- Alfred Rosenberg, Baltic German philosopher, ideologue of the Nazi Party - Gerhart Hauptmann, German dramatist and novelist, Nobel Prize winner in Literature in 1912 - Gertrude Stein, US-American novelist, poet, playwright, wrote one of the first "coming out stories" - H. G. Wells, Engish "father of science fiction" (The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds) - John Maynard Keynes, British economist, co-inventor of the Bretton Woods system - László Moholy-Nagy, Hungarian painter and photographer - Manuel de Falla, Spanish composer - Patty Hill, co-composer "Happy Birthday to You", which led to a lot of copyright issues- Paul Lincke, German composer and theater conductor, "father" of the Berlin operetta and composer of the (unofficial) Berlin anthem

and many more finally became public domain today.

Public Domain Day also reminds us of the over-extended copyright periods that harm culture in favour of benefit for few. Copyright should, similar to patents, term 20 years after publication instead of 70 years (rounded, so this can go up to almost 71 years) after creators death.

Free design: LIES

Near where I live, the fans of conspiracies and demagogues have put stickers on the guard rails of our highway off-ramps. That inspired me to design these stickers.

I’m putting this design in the public domain – no copyright. I trust you to use them to reference things that are verified lies.
