I’ll be in Roma (Rome), Firenze (Florence), and Sorrento for a couple of weeks at the end of October and beginning of November.

What recommendations do you have, fedi? Particularly interested in quirky sights, amazing food or arts/crafts/textile things.

@Jonobie in Florence there is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_o… (that has been on my list for quite some time, but I've never managed to visit it, so I don't know exactly what to expect :( )

in Rome there is Palazzo Barberini where you can see Giuditta e Oloferne by Caravaggio.
A surprising place a bit outside of common tourist routes is via Omero in Villa Borghese, where the Dutch cultural institute is, close to many other foreign cultural institutes.

My 0.02€… buy the cheapest tourist guide you can find and avoid all the "suggested" famous places: because they'll be too crowded!

I ask my lovely followers in #Roma, #Firenze and #Sorrento to send you some good indications for hidden gems.

@GustavinoBevilacqua I like that advice. :-) I’m hoping things will be a wee bit quieter near the end of Oct, but not sure. I will have a newbie with me too so likely will need to hit a few of those big things, but I’m way more fond of the quirky and local!

I don't know how many days you'll be staying in Florence, but if you have time it might be worth popping over to Prato's Museo del Tessuto, since you're interested in textile things! from Florence to Prato it's about 30 minutes by train.
